Deeply Rooted Hair Lab was founded by Mandy Robertson, a certified trichologist, and Dr. Blake Bloxham, a hair transplant surgeon, united by a shared mission: to elevate scalp health and hair growth support through drug-free, science-backed solutions.
Through years of clinical practice, Mandy and Blake saw the same pattern repeated over and over—patients seeking healthier, fuller hair, but hesitant to rely solely on pharmaceuticals or invasive treatments. Many wanted effective support without systemic side effects or compromise to overall health.
They recognized a gap in the hair care space: advanced formulations that support the biology of the scalp and hair follicle—without drugs.
Drawing from trichology, regenerative medicine, and surgical hair restoration science, Deeply Rooted Hair Lab was created to bridge that gap. Every formula is designed to work with the hair growth cycle, targeting the scalp environment, follicle signaling, inflammation, circulation, and structural support—key factors that influence hair density, strength, and longevity.
Our approach combines clinically studied peptides, plant stem cells, and bioactive ingredients selected to support follicle health, strengthen anchoring, and maintain optimal scalp function. These formulas are intended to complement professional treatments or stand alone as a foundational part of long-term scalp care.

Mandy’s passion for treating hair loss is personal. When she was only 21 years old, she left a dermatology appointment in tears; after waiting months to be seen, she was blunted told she suffered from “female pattern hair loss” and to take iron supplements, start minoxidil, and consider a hair transplant. She left the appointment with more questions than answers. How did the dermatologist diagnose her after such a brief examination? Could other things like stress, nutrition, or hormones be playing a role? Is female pattern hair loss genetic? Does she need blood work? And, most importantly, will this ever stop and will my hair come back?
She realized that there must be a better way to treat patients with hair loss; something more specific, thorough, and compassionate. So she set off on a journey to learn not only more about her own hair loss, but about the science behind hair loss and how it can be better treated.
Her journey led her to completing a bachelor’s and master’s in business administration before pursuing trichology training with the International Association of Trichologist. She completed her clinical training with Sinclair Dermatology in Melbourne Australia in 2019. She followed this up by completing the competitive Evidence Based Hair Fellowship with world renowned dermatologist Dr Jeff Donovan. Mandy is now a certified trichologist who runs her own practice “Deeply Rooted Trichology” in Vancouver, Canada.
Dr Bloxham’s interest in hair loss began during his pre-medical studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer and required chemotherapy. Her prognosis was good and she liked her oncology team, but she still worried about one thing: hair loss from the treatments. She did not feel like this was something “important” enough to bring up to her oncology team, so she asked Dr. Bloxham (just Blake at the time!). Her concern surprised him and he admitted that he knew nothing about hair loss, or really hair biology in general, at that point; but he would do some research and help!
While doing this research, Dr. Bloxham discovered a fascination with hair follicle biology, the pathophysiology of hair loss, and the world of hair loss treatments. He was able to help his grandmother (who did well and is still happy and healthy today) and start his journey towards becoming a hair restoration physician.
After attending medical school at the Kirksville College of A.T. Still University and graduating with Sigma, Sigma, Phi honors, Dr. Bloxham completed post-graduate training at Geisinger Medical Center (previously Penn State Geisinger and now the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine) and underwent a preceptorship in hair transplant surgery. Dr. Bloxham then practiced hair transplant surgery exclusively for over a decade. During that time he completed over 3,000 successful hair transplant procedures and became a known authority in the practice of FUT and FUE surgery.
After a decade of pure surgical practice, Dr Bloxham decided he wanted to become more involved in non-surgical treatments and hair loss research – in addition to his continued surgical practice. He became the Chief Medical Officer of a hair loss research and development group called “Anagen,” became the Editorial Director for hairscience.org, and teamed up with Mandy to develop a line of science-backed, innovated, natural treatments for hair loss.
